Specialities

  • Trauma

I have a particular expertise in interventions and skill building to address symptoms or PTSD. I have more than fifteen years of experience working with survivors of sexual and physical, assaults within the acute hospital setting and outpatient services. I have worked extensively with SFPD/Victims of Crime office, Survivor’s International cases of human trafficking, and political asylum seekers.

  • Depression and Anxiety

I have worked closely with clients that experience chronic depression and anxiety to integrate elements from Mindfulness, Acceptance commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy to develop more constructive coping skills and better manage mood dysregulation. I pay particular attention to internal dialogues, and self-talk to facilitate change.

  • Multi-ethnic issues

I identify as bilingual/bicultural and provide a lived experience to draw from when clients describe their challenges or areas of growth. Having an understanding of how race, class, and culture have an impact on our daily encounters impacts our mental health in different ways.

  • LGBTQ+ issues

I identify as a gay man and understanding the complexities of navigating in a hetero-normative society has been beneficial to clients. LGTBQ+ issues impact personal and professional experiences. Providing a space to examine sex and intimacy in a queer space can provide an opportunity for healing issues of identify, internalized -homophobia, and intimacy.

  • Traumatic loss

I have worked with survivors of traumatic loss including suicide, police brutality, and political persecution. I have also personally experienced traumatic loss of a family member to suicide, which has given me the opportunity to examine my own responses in a compassionate way.

I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing that I wanted to do.
